Mattresses: allowed, but awkward
A mattress is usually within the bulk allowance, so this one is mostly about logistics rather than rules. The friction is that a mattress and box spring together often use the entire week’s allowance, so a full bedroom set becomes a multi-week project.
A few practical notes. Bag it if it has been anywhere near bedbugs — that is a courtesy to the crew handling it and in many places a requirement. Do not put it out in the rain if you can avoid it; a soaked mattress gains a remarkable amount of weight and some services will refuse it. And do not cut it up hoping it becomes regular trash, which produces a mess without solving anything.

The City of Rockwall’s residential garbage information sets out the same expectation for its residents — the refrigerant has to be dealt with first, and the unit needs to be tagged to prove it.
Once that is done, the appliance is just a metal box and goes wherever scrap goes. The recovery is the step, and it is the step that needs arranging.
A fridge is not a heavy appliance with a rule attached. It is a regulated item that happens to look like an appliance.

- Arranging refrigerant recovery, and getting the unit tagged.
- Facility hours, scale fees, and the drive — remembering that Royse City has no public landfill of its own.
